What We Do

We work with the State of Tennessee and the community of Clarksville to preserve and protect Dunbar Cave State Park.

Our Mission

Friends of Dunbar Cave, Inc. is an independent, non-profit corporation committed to promoting, protecting and preserving the natural and cultural resources of Dunbar Cave State Park for this generation and for generations to come.

  • The Board of the Friends of Dunbar Cave provides 50% of the funding for two seasonal AmeriCorp employees. Learn more here

  • We work with park management in maintaining and improving park facilities and services.

  • We supply volunteers for park projects and programs.

  • We raise funds.

GRANTS:

In 2021, we were awarded three grants. One of those grants was from Humanities Tennessee for a Virtual Reality Cave Tour Film.

TRAIL BUILDING:

Two grants were for a new trail building and rerouting project. One was awarded from Friends of Tennessee State Parks. The other was an Evan Means Grant awarded from Tennessee Trails Association.

COOLING AT THE CAVE CONCERTS:

Friends of Dunbar Cave hosts two annual Cooling at the Cave concerts, one in early summer and one in the fall. Both evening music concerts take place at the mouth of the cave. Food vendors are on site.
