FODC Awarded Mini Grant from The Friends of TN State Parks

Friends of Dunbar Cave (FODC) has been awarded a Mini Grant from The Friends of Tennessee State Parks to purchase tools for a trail rerouting project.

The Friends of Tennessee State Parks awarded Friends of Dunbar Cave, Inc. the full amount of the Mini Grant, $500.00. FODC plans to purchase hand tools that rangers and volunteers can use on the trail project. Currently, rangers have been borrowing tools from other state parks.

The project includes rerouting portions of the Recovery and Short Loop trails at Dunbar Cave State Park. The new trail portions will help to decrease erosion from significant wear and tear after decades of use. On the new portions of trail, hikers will see features such as a limestone bluff that visitors can’t see from the current trail. The project requires construction of trails, including bridges and rock stairs. Ranger John Ball is leading the project.

Friends of Dunbar Cave, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non profit group of member volunteers who work to preserve, promote, and protect Dunbar Cave State Park. Our website: https://friendsofdunbarcave.com
